Acceptable Use Policy
Template, not legal advice. This page is a starting point for the person who runs this service. A qualified lawyer must review and adapt it before the service is opened to the public. Remove this notice only after that review.
This policy applies to everyone who uses Altron. It is part of the Terms of Service. Breaking it can lead to the actions described in section 5.
1. Content
You must not upload, store, process or share anything that:
- infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights, including music and recordings that you do not own or have no permission to use;
- is illegal where you live or where the service is run;
- is child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form. We remove it at once and report it to the authorities and to child-protection organisations such as NCMEC in the United States and the IWF in the United Kingdom;
- contains malware, or is meant to damage or disrupt a computer, a network or an account, or to gain access to them without permission;
- is used to harass, threaten, stalk, defame or abuse a person, or to expose their private information.
2. Accounts and access
- Do not share your account, your password, your authenticator codes or your recovery codes, and do not let anyone else use your account.
- Do not try to get around any access control: the authenticator requirement, the approval of accounts, the separate permissions for the file server and for each tool, quotas, or rate limits.
- Do not try to reach accounts, files, folders or tools that you have not been given access to, and do not probe the service for weaknesses. If you find a security problem, report it as described in our security.txt.
- Do not choose a username that imitates an administrator, staff, the service or another person.
- If you are a folder administrator, you are responsible for the people you add to your folders and for what they do there.
3. Using the service
- The service is for your own private use and for the people you invite. Do not use it to publish or distribute files to the public, as a content delivery network, or to host a website. Where share links are available, they are for sharing with specific people.
- Respect quotas and size limits. Do not try to get around them, for example by creating extra accounts.
- Do not use the service to attack, scan or send unwanted traffic to other systems.
4. The link downloader and the other tools
The link downloader is available only to people an administrator has chosen.
- Use it only for content that you have the right to download and keep, and only in ways the source site allows.
- Do not use it to copy whole catalogues, channels or sites, or to automate large numbers of downloads.
- Do not point it at internal or private addresses, or try to make it fetch anything other than the public pages it supports.
- Do not use the tools to make or distribute copies of material that you have no right to copy or distribute.
5. What we may do
We are not obliged to monitor the service, but we may look into reports and investigate. If we think this policy has been broken, or the law requires it, we may do any of the following, with or without notice:
- remove or disable content;
- withdraw permissions, or limit your use of the service;
- suspend or end your account;
- tell the affected rights holder, the authorities or law enforcement, and give them the information the law requires or allows;
- take legal action.
6. Reporting abuse
To report a copyright infringement, see the Copyright and takedown page. To report anything else that breaks this policy, use the report form. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
